The mural captures the spirit of Chennai through abstract forms, colour, and rhythm rather than literal imagery or text. Layered shapes, gestures, and patterns echo the city’s everyday mannerisms, its tempo, vibes and street life, translating them into a bold, wordless visual language that feels both contemporary and deeply rooted in Madras
This project was in collaboration with Aloka Design Studio and Ajit, a wall mural artist, we transformed this entrance wall into a canvas. The mural was designed to capture the spirit of Chennai in an abstract, eye-catching way, without the use of words.
The design was inspired by arches, a recurring architectural feature across the space. The 140 sq ft artwork (10 ft tall x 14 ft wide) was broken into smaller modules, cut on MDF boards with a CNC machine. On-site, the pieces were glued and screwed onto the wall. With five layers, the artwork created a sense of depth and visual movement, with the lights on the lobby.
